Introduction
The Metropolis pendant, designed by Chris Jackson for the Belgian lighting brand Dark, is an iconic sculptural light inspired by the architecture of a modern city skyline. The layered cube composition evokes the abstract form of an urban metropolis, giving the lamp a strong architectural presence. Produced in Belgium, this design has become a recognizable piece within contemporary European lighting.
Appearance and functionality
The lamp features a chaotic cubic structure composed of translucent plastic blocks, creating a striking geometric silhouette reminiscent of stacked city buildings. When illuminated, the material diffuses the light softly, producing a warm atmospheric glow. Its sculptural form makes it ideal as a statement pendant above a dining table, in an entry hall, or in a modern interior or commercial space.
A total of 12 lamps are available. One lamp is missing its cord, and some examples have 3 instead of 4 screws on the top plate. This is not visible once installed and does not affect the structural integrity.
